Hold That Pose

A friend’s daughter got engaged over the holidays. Sue says they haven’t set a wedding date yet, but Jessica is already looking at dresses, bands, flowers and locations. They have ruled out a destination wedding; Jessica wants a home town wedding that’s more accessible for family and friends. That doesn’t do a lot to narrow the location, since her home town is in the Palm Beach area. When Sue said she was planning to use a photo booth, I was a bit taken back. Huh? Would the wedding party travel to a booth at a local shopping mart or tourist attraction? How would they cram all those people in formal attire into one of those phone booth size spaces?
When Sue stopped laughing, she brought me into the 21st century. She explained that Palm Beach photo booth rentals are quite popular for weddings and a lot of other events too. The photo pod is delivered to the party location, where it is set up and staffed by an attendant. It captures all the fun and spontaneity of those old-fashioned booths, while utilizing elegant settings and modern technology. Guests receive their photos immediately and a real-time slide show lets everyone enjoy the picture taking fun as it happens. The bride and groom also receive a DVD with everyone’s photos.
It does sound like a great idea and a far better memento of the day than those mints tied into netting. Yes, that’s what we had at my wedding. I hope my guests ate theirs, because if you keep them around for twenty years, they collect a lot of dust. Don’t ask how I know.

Ah, yes, the fun of tying mints into netting. Oh, yay!
I’m rather boggled by the photo booth idea, but I’m MUCH older than I look, LOL.
